C'mon Wings, Pull It Together

Well there's not too many folks out there that are bigger Red Wings fans that me. But I've gotta say....they're not looking that good.

Last night's game against the Blues, they gave up 5 goals....again!

They sit 20th in the NHL for goals against - not good.

It doesn't look like they've really decided on a goaltender either. I know it's not unrealistic to have more than one goalie take the net during playoffs, but they're too inconsistent right now.

In my opinion, they need to give Osgood more playing time. He helped the Wings win a Cup last season - he should be your guy, and he should have been playing the vast majority of the games in March.

I'm kind of venting right now, but even though they're sitting in a comfortable 2nd place in the Western Conference, I'm just not seeing the level of cohesiveness that I'm accustomed to seeing. Where's the defense?

Anyway, I think they can definitely repeat, but they're going to have to step it up!!!

Red Wings Back On Top

Red Wings are back on top after yesterday's win over Edmonton!

The question is, who the hell is our go-to goaltender moving into the playoffs. I thought it was Osgood up until Calgary on Monday, and now Conklin's back in and looked strong. They're both pretty solid, but it'd be nice to see some more consistency as the regular season winds down.

The Sharks have two games in hand, so hopefully the Blackhawks kick the ever-living sh*t out of them tonight.

Possibly the Worst Thing I've Ever Seen

So this is piece doesn't have anything to do with the Red Wings.

I'd like to take a moment to share with you one of the saddest things my poor eyes have ever seen. Here's a fight from 2006 that I just came across. Or I guess I should call it more of a happy man dance:

Hopefully the refs just kicked them out of the game.

Wings & Flames - Good Game So Far

Wings were outshooting the Flames 25-2 when they had like 6 power plays in a row!

Kippersoff is playing real tough, but hopefully they'll put a few more biscuits in the back of the night.

Right now it's 2-1 at the end of the first.

Red Wings On Top!

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh! Red Wings beat out the Avalanche last night to take over the top spot in the league!

Sharks still have a couple of games in hand, but I like the way the Wings are playing. Giving up less goals, playing better D, winning majority of face offs, scoring on power plays, Aaron Downy's punching people in the face for a minute and a half (check out this fight against Cam Janssen on Wednesday):

I'd like to keep Downy around for a while to serve as an enforcer.

Good to hear Hossa's okay after going head first into the boards Wed. Probably be back next week.

Wings Rule!

What a Return for Chris Osgood

Ozzy stopped 30 pucks last night in his return against the Kings. Lookin' real good. I expect he'll be ready for the playoffs come April. If not, though, Conklin looks real good too.

What is it about the Wings that brings out the best in goaltenders - and all players?

Well they're three points out of first in the West behind the Sharks, and San Jose has two games in hand. Could be a tough to finish first, but damn the Wings look good.

Tonight the Wings go against the Preds. I hate watching them play in Nashville and having to listen to the stupid fans blow their little horns every time Jordan Tootoo touches the puck. Here's the moron throwing himself into the Red Wings bench last year:

Here we go - prediction time. I'm thinking Zetterberg gets one in the first, Huddler one in the second, Franzen and Datsyuk both get one in the third, and the Wings win it 4-2.

Leeeeet's Gooooooooo Red Wings!

Let's Face It - The Red Wings Rule

I know it's the title of the blog, but let's face it, the Red Wings f**king rule!

Pure domination over Nashville last night. The final: 6-2. The big European Mule Franzen got a couple of goals, Hudler got a goal, and Hossa got into what can only be described as a glorified bitch slap fest. Probably his first and last fight....not just in the NHL - anywhere. Check out the sad Hossa fight in this video:

Now they're only a couple of points back from overtaking the San Jose Sharks. Oh I how hate that son of a bitch Joe Thorton.

It's going to be interesting to watch them through the final stretch here. It'll also be interesting to see who minds the goal in the playoffs. I think you have to go with Osgood since he just won them a Stanley Cup, but Conklin's looking pretty damn good.

Red Wings Rule!
